Great job. A simple reading of Judges 19 indeed reveals that God was absent throughout the ordeal; and the very next chapter the same condemnable event had caused no less than every other tribe to rise against Benjamin – with the grace of God himself nonetheless. So it essentially amounts to deliberately reading the beginning of a story and ignoring its climax and ending (Ch. 20-21). If anything, God’s retribution at the atrocity is as clear as day.

I have a leftist 24-year-old cousin who was brought up in a Christian home. Unfortunately that doesn’t seem to carry much weight these days. About two years ago, she and I were having a conversation about Islam. She was defending Islam as I was posting the violent passages in the Quran – which of course were prescriptive, such as Quran 9:111. She posted the story of Lot offering his daughters to be raped (Genesis 19) said even the Bible contains violent passages such as this. You know, she really could’ve done better.
