I now arrive at the final part of my series (https://islamunmasked.com/2019/06/25/even-more-proof-that-jesus-is-jehovah-god-most-high-pt-1-pt-2/).

The One Supreme Lord Of All 

The God-breathed revelation describes Yahweh as the Lord of lords, i.e. the one unrivaled Lord who reigns supreme over all other lords, masters and authorities:

“for Yahweh your God is God of gods and Lord of lords, the great God, triumphant and terrible, never partial, never to be bribed” Deuteronomy 10:17 JB

“Give thanks to the Lord of lords, his love is everlasting!” Psalm 136:3 JB

The inspired Scriptures also testify that Yahweh is the only Lord who rules from heaven, and therefore is the only Lord that a believer looks to in heaven:

To you who dwells in heaven have I lifted up mine eyes. Behold, as the eyes of servants (are directed) to the hands of their lords (ton kyrion auton), [and] as the eyes of a maidservant to the hands of her mistress; so our eyes (are directed) to the Lord our God (Kyrion ton Theon hemon), until he have mercy upon us. Psalm 122[Heb. 123]:1-2 LXX

This is why the Bible plainly teaches that a person cannot have two lords over him, especially in heaven:

“None is able to serve two lords (kyriois), for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will hold to the one, and despise the other; ye are not able to serve God and Mammon.” Matthew 6:24 Young’s Literal Translation (YLT) 

And yet according to the NT writings, Jesus Christ is that one true Lord who reigns in heaven as King of kings and Lord of lords:

“to observe the commandment in a spotless and irreprehensible way until the manifestation of our Lord Jesus Christ, which the happy and only Potentate will show in its own appointed times. He is the King of those who rule as kings and Lord of those who rule as lords, the one alone having immortality, who dwells in unapproachable light, whom no man has seen or can see. To him be honor and eternal might. Amen.” 1 Timothy 6:14-16 NWT

“and from Jesus Christ, ‘the Faithful Witness,’ ‘the firstborn from the dead,’ and ‘the Ruler of the kings of the earth.’” Revelation 1:5 NWT

“These will battle with the Lamb, but because he is Lord of lords and King of kings, the Lamb will conquer them. Also, those with him who are called and chosen and faithful will do so.” Revelation 17:14 – cf. 19:16 NWT

Remarkably, even the JW’s own Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society admit that the blessed Apostle is describing Jesus in 1 Timothy 6:15-16,

Jehovah is the “happy God” and his Son Jesus Christ is called “the happy and only Potentate” (1 Tim. 1:11; 6:15)… (Aid to Bible Understanding [Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society of New York, Inc., 1971], p. 711 http://wol.jw.org/en/wol/d/r1/lp-e/1200001868?q=Jehovah+is+the+%E2%80%9Chappy+God%E2%80%9D+and+his+Son+Jesus+Christ+is+called+%E2%80%9Cthe+happy+and+only+Potentate%E2%80%9D+%281+Tim.+1%3A11%3B+6%3A15%29&p=par; bold emphasis mine)

Despite the fact that they still make every effort to explain away such exalted language:

How can Jesus be “the one alone having immortality”? The first one described as being rewarded with immortality is Jesus Christ. That he did not possess immortality before his resurrection by God [sic] is seen from the inspired apostle’s words at Romans 6:9: “Christ, now that he has been raised from the dead, dies no more; death is master over him no more.” (Compare Re 1:17, 18). For this reason, when describing him as “the King of those who rule as kings and Lord of those who rule as lords,” 1 Timothy 6:15, 16 shows that Jesus is distinct from all other kings and lords in that he is “the one alone having immortality.” The other kings and lords, because of being mortal, die, even as did also the high priests of Israel. The glorified Jesus, God’s appointed High Priest after the order of Melchizedek, however, has “an indestructible life.” – Heb 7:15-17, 23-25. Christ is further described as the only sovereign Owner and Lord that a believer has in heaven:

“there is actually to us one God, the Father, from whom all things are and we for him; and there is one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom all things are and we through him.” 1 Corinthians 8:6 (NWT https://www.jw.org/en/publications/bible/study-bible/books/1-corinthians/8/#v46008006)

“… they are ungodly men who turn the undeserved kindness of our God into an excuse for brazen conduct and who prove false to our only owner and Lord, Jesus Christ.” Jude 1:4b (NWT https://www.jw.org/en/publications/bible/study-bible/books/jude/1/#v65001004)

This now places anti-Trinitarians in a dilemma since the only way that Christ can be the One who reigns as King of kings and Lord of lords from heaven itself is if he is Yahweh God Almighty in the flesh. Note the logic behind this argument:

1. Yahweh is the only Lord in heaven and he is also the only Lord of lords who reigns from heaven.
2. Since there cannot be two lords reigning from heaven this means that Yahweh is the only Lord that a believer has in heaven itself.
3. Jesus Christ reigns from heaven as the one true Lord, being the King of kings and Lord of lords that dwells in heaven.
4. Since there cannot be two King of kings and Lord of lords reigning in heaven, this means that Jesus is Yahweh God in the flesh.
5. At the same time, Jesus is personally distinct from the Father who is also identified as Yahweh God.
6. This, therefore, shows that the one true God Yahweh eternally subsists in at least two distinct divine Persons, namely, the Father and the Son.

There is simply no way of getting around this biblically and/or logically. This brings me to the final section of this post.

Jesus as God in an Absolute Sense

Another line of evidence that affirms Christ’s identity as Yahweh Most High is texts where the Lord is identified as God in an absolute sense.

According to Matthew, Jesus is Yahweh God who comes to dwell with his people and save them from their sins:

“‘She will give birth to a son and you must name him Jesus, BECAUSE he is the one who is to save his people from their sins.’ Now all this took place to fulfill the words spoken by the Lord through the prophet: The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son and they will call him lmmanuel, a name which means ‘God-is-with-us (meth hemon ho Theos).’” Matthew 1:21-23 JB

That Matthew is identifying Jesus himself as THE God who condescended to be born as a babe from his virgin mother by the power of the Holy Spirit, is confirmed by how the Gospel ends:

“and teach them to observe all the commands I gave you. And know that I AM WITH YOU (ego meth hymon eimi) always; yes, to the end of time.” Matthew 28:20 JB

Matthew concludes his presentation by reiterating what he had stated at the start of his Gospel, namely, Jesus is the God who continues to be with all of his followers till the very end of the age. This clearly affirms that Jesus is himself that God who has come to personally dwell with his church, and not merely a sign that God is with them.

This is further confirmed by the reason the angel gave for the babe being given the name Jesus. I.e., the virgin born Son of Mary is to be called Jesus, which in Hebrew is Yeshua, being the shortened form of Yehoshua, because he comes to save his people from their sins. “Jesus” in Hebrew literally means “Yahweh is salvation,” thereby connecting the name with Christ’s redeeming all those who trust in him from their transgressions, a work that the OT ascribes to Yahweh alone:

“Let Israel rely on Yahweh as much as the watchman on the dawn! For it is with Yahweh that mercy is to be found, and a generous redemption; it is he who redeems Israel from all their sins.” Psalm 130:7-8 JB

In other words, the reason why Christ is called “Yahweh is salvation,” is because he is Yahweh God himself coming to be born as a human being in order to offer his life as an atoning sacrifice for the sins of all those who will put their trust in him:

“just as the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” Matthew 20:28 JB

“‘Now as they were eating,’ Jesus took some bread, and when he had said the blessing he broke it and gave it to the disciples. ‘Take it and eat’; he said, ‘this is my body.’ Then he took a cup, and when he had returned thanks he gave it to them. ‘Drink all of you from this,’ he said, ‘for this is my blood, the blood of the covenant, which is to be poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.’” Matthew 26:26-28 JB

Our Lord is also described as the God who shed his blood to purchase or redeem his church:

“Be on your guard for yourselves and for all the flock of which the Holy Spirit has made you the overseers, to feed the Church of God which HE bought with HIS own blood.” Acts 20:28 JB

The Apostle uses language that is strikingly reminiscent of the following Psalm:

“God, have you finally rejected us, raging at the flock you used to pasture? Remember the people you long since made your own, your hereditary tribe whom you redeemed, and this Mount Zion where you came to live.” Psalm 74:1-2 JB

Christ is further said to be the eternally blessed God,

“They are descended from the patriarchs and from their flesh and blood came Christ who is above all, God for ever blessed! Amen.” Romans 9:5 JB

The great God and Savior of all believers, who redeemed a people to be his own possession,

“while we are waiting in hope for the blessing which will come with the Appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior Christ Jesus. He sacrificed himself for us in order to set us free from all wickedness and to purify a people so that it could be his very own and would have no ambition except to do good.” Titus 2:13-14 JB

And whose righteousness is the grounds upon which God grants saving faith to all who have believed:

“From Simeon Peter, servant and apostle of Jesus Christ; to all who treasure the same faith as ourselves, given through the righteousness of our God and Savior Jesus Christ.” 2 Peter 1:1 JB

The language employed in these texts is once again reminiscent to what the Hebrew Bible says in reference to Yahweh. For instance, it is Yahweh who has redeemed a people for himself,

“Now if you obey me fully and keep my covenant, then out of all nations you will be my treasured possession. Although the whole earth is mine,” Exodus 19:5 NIV

And who is the righteous God and Savior that calls all nations to turn to him for salvation:

“Declare what is to be, present it— let them take counsel together. Who foretold this long ago, who declared it from the distant past? Was it not I, the Lord? And there is no God apart from me, a righteous God and a Savior; there is none but me. Turn to me and be saved, all you ends of the earth; for I am God, and there is no other.” Isaiah 45:21-22 NIV

This next verse is rather remarkable:

“We know, too, that the Son of God has come, and has given us the power to know the true God. We are in the true God, as we are in his Son, Jesus Christ. This is the true God, this is eternal life.” 1 John 5:20 JB

The Apostle has already told us who that eternal life happens to be:

“That life was made visible: we saw it and we are giving our testimony, telling you of eternal life which was with the Father and has been made visible to us.” 1 John 1:2 JB

Therefore, since Christ is the eternal life that was with the Father he must also be the true God, since one cannot be eternal life without also being the true God. Again, note the logic of this:

1. The true God is the eternal life.
2. Jesus is the eternal life that is with the Father.
3. There cannot be two eternal lives, one that is God and another that is a creature.
4. Since Jesus is the eternal life he must, therefore, be the true God.
5. The Father is also described as the only true God (cf. John 17:3; 1 Corinthians 8:6; Ephesians 4:6; 1 Timothy 2:5).
6. The Father and the Son are personally distinct, which is why they are able to enjoy perfect love and communion with each other (cf. John 14:31; 15:9-10; 17:5, 24).
7. This again proves that the one true God eternally coexists in two distinct divine Persons, namely, the Father and the Son.

This brings me to the conclusion of my series. My prayer is that the one true Triune God will be pleased to use these posts to open the hearts and minds of all those who read them to the truth of Jesus being Yahweh God Most High who became flesh for our salvation.

(1) That the explanation offered by the Society is rather desperate would be putting it mildly.

The NT doesn’t teach that Christ possesses immortality because of the indestructible life he received by virtue of his resurrection. Rather, Jesus has this quality due to his being Life itself who gives life to every person. The following passages are all from the NWT (https://www.jw.org/en/publications/bible/study-bible/books/):

“All things came into existence through him, and apart from him not even one thing came into existence. What has come into existence by means of him was life, and the life was the light of men.” John 1:3-4

“For just as the Father raises the dead up and makes them alive, so the Son also makes alive whomever he wants to… Most truly I say to you, the hour is coming, and it is now, when the dead will hear THE VOICE OF THE SON OF GOD, and those who have paid attention will live… Do not be amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear HIS [the Son’s] VOICE and come out, those who did good things to a resurrection of life, and those who practiced vile things to a resurrection of judgment.” John 5:21, 25, 28-29

“This is the will of him who sent me, that I should lose none out of all those whom he has given me, but that I should resurrect them on the last day. For this is the will of my Father, that everyone who recognizes the Son and exercises faith in him should have everlasting life, and I will resurrect him on the last day… No man can come to me unless the Father, who sent me, draws him, and I will resurrect him on the last day.” John 6:39-40, 44

“My sheep listen to my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. I give them everlasting life, and they will by no means ever be destroyed, and no one will snatch them out of my hand. What my Father has given me is something greater than all other things, and no one can snatch them out of the hand of the Father. I and the Father are one.” John 10:27-30

“Jesus said to her: ‘I am the resurrection and THE LIFE. The one who exercises faith in me, even though he dies, will come to life; and everyone who is living and exercises faith in me will never die at all. Do you believe this?’ She said to him: ‘Yes, Lord, I have believed that you are the Christ, the Son of God, the one coming into the world.’” John 11:25-27

“Jesus said to him: ‘I am the way and the truth and THE LIFE. No one comes to the Father except through me.’” John 14:6

“The God of Abraham and of Isaac and of Jacob, the God of our forefathers, has glorified his Servant, Jesus, whom you handed over and disowned before Pilate, even though he had decided to release him. Yes, you disowned that holy and righteous one, and you asked for a man who was a murderer to be given to you, whereas you killed the Chief Agent of life. But God raised him up from the dead, of which fact we are witnesses.” Acts 3:13-15

“That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have observed and our hands have felt, concerning THE WORD OF LIFE, (yes, THE LIFE was made manifest, and we have seen and are bearing witness and reporting to you THE EVERLASTING LIFE that was with the Father and was made manifest to us), that which we have seen and heard we are reporting also to you, so that you too may have fellowship with us. And this fellowship of ours is with the Father and with his Son Jesus Christ.” 1 John 1:1-3

Therefore, since Christ is the Life, the Eternal Life, and the Chief Agent of Life, who raises the dead and gives everlasting life to all who trust in him, it was impossible for him to remain dead:

“Men of Israel, hear these words: Jesus the Naz·a·reneʹ was a man publicly shown to you by God through powerful works and wonders and signs that God did through him in your midst, just as you yourselves know. This man, who was handed over by the determined will and foreknowledge of God, you fastened to a stake by the hand of lawless men, and you did away with him. But God resurrected him by releasing him from the pangs of death, because it was not possible for him to be held fast by it.” Acts 2:22-24

In fact, the Lord himself said that no one could take his life away and that he would personally raise himself up from the dead in three days:

“Jesus replied to them: ‘Tear down this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.’ The Jews then said: ‘This temple was built in 46 years, and will YOU raise it up in three days?’ But he was talking about the temple of his body. When, though, he was raised up from the dead, his disciples recalled that he used to say this, and they believed the scripture and what Jesus had spoken.” John 2:19-22

“This is why the Father loves me, because I surrender my life, so that I may receive it again. No man takes it away from me, but I surrender it of my own initiative. I have authority to surrender it, and I have authority to receive it again. This commandment I received from my Father.’” John 10:17-18

Yet despite the Society’s erroneous interpretation, their position regarding 1 Timothy 6:15-16 shows that even this anti-Trinitarian cult clearly sees and readily acknowledges that the Apostle Paul described the glorified Christ as the only Sovereign Lord and King, who alone possesses immortality and dwells in unapproachable light!
