Jesus Christ – The Lord of the Glorious Throne:

Even More Proofs from the Quran for the Divinity of Christ

According to the Quran, Allah is the Lord of the throne of glory:

Lord of the Throne of Glory, S. 85:15 Yusuf Ali

The following version brings out the essential meaning of this text:

Possessor of the Glorious throne; Rodwell

I.e., Allah possesses a throne that is glorious, a throne which signifies his being the sovereign Lord and Judge of all creation.

God’s Word confirms that the one true God sits on a glorious throne:

“Do not abhor us. For Your name’s sake, do not disgrace Your glorious throne. Remember and do not break Your covenant with us.” Jeremiah 14:21

“Do not abhor us, for thy name’s sake, do not disgrace the throne of thy glory: remember, break not thy covenant with us.” Authorized King James Version (AV)

A glorious high throne from the beginning is the place of our sanctuary.” Jeremiah 17:12

Throne of Glory, exalted from the beginning! Our Holy Sanctuary,” Complete Jewish Bible (CJB)

The Islamic scripture further attests that Allah will come on the shadows of the clouds with his angels to judge creation:

Do they then wait for anything other than that Allah should come to them in the shadows of the clouds and the angels? (Then) the case would be already judged. And to Allah return all matters (for decision). S. 2:210 Hilali-Khan

Nay! When the earth is ground to powder, And your Lord comes with the angels in rows, And Hell will be brought near that Day. On that Day will man remember, but how will that remembrance (then) avail him? S. 89:21-23 Hilali-Khan

This takes place on the very same day that Allah will raise mankind from their graves, because he is the truth who gives life to the dead:

That is because Allah, He is the Truth, and it is He Who gives life to the dead, and it is He Who is Able to do all things. And surely, the Hour is coming, there is no doubt about it, and certainly, Allah will resurrect those who are in the graves. S. 22:6-7 Hilali-Khan

The Holy Bible concurs with the Quran at this point, since it testifies that God is the One that rides the clouds and comes to judge the world in righteousness:

“For I know that my Redeemer lives, and He will stand at last on the earth; and after my skin is destroyed, yet in my flesh I will see God, whom I will see for myself, and my eyes will behold, and not another. How my heart yearns within me.” Job 19:25-27

“But the LORD remains forever; He has established His throne for judgment. He will judge the world in righteousness; He will give judgment to the peoples in uprightness.” Psalm 9:7-8

“Say among the nations, ‘The LORD reigns! Indeed, the world is established; it shall not be moved; He shall judge the peoples righteously… before the LORD, for He comes, for He comes to judge the earth. He shall judge the world with righteousness and the peoples with His faithfulness.” Psalm 96:10, 13

“In this mountain the LORD of Hosts shall prepare for all people a lavish feast, a feast of aged wines, choice pieces full of marrow, and refined, aged wines. He will destroy in this mountain the covering which is over all peoples, even the veil that is spread over all nations. He will swallow up death for all time, and the Lord GOD will wipe away tears from all faces; and the reproach of His people He shall take away from all the earth, for the LORD has spoken it. It shall be said in that day: Look, this is our God for whom we have waited that He might save us. This is the LORD for whom we have waited; we will be glad and rejoice in His salvation.” Isaiah 25:6-9

“Hurry and come, all you surrounding nations, and gather there. Bring down Your warriors, O LORD. Let the nations be roused, and go up to the Valley of Jehoshaphat; for there I will sit to judge all the surrounding nations.” Joel 3:11-12

“the LORD is slow to anger and great in power, and the LORD will in no way acquit the guilty. In gale winds and a storm is His way, and clouds are the dust of His feet.” Nahum 1:3

“A day of the Lord is coming when your spoil will be divided in your midst. For I will gather all the nations against Jerusalem for battle. The city will be captured and the houses plundered and the women ravished. Half of the city will go to exile, but the remainder of the people will not be cut off from the city. Then the Lord will go out and fight those nations as He fights in the day of war. On that day His feet will stand on the Mount of Olives, which is to the east of Jerusalem. And from east to west the Mount of Olives will be split in two halves by a very great valley so that one half moves to the north and the other to the south. And you will flee to my mountain valley, for the mountain valley will reach to Azal. You will flee just like you fled from the earthquake in the days of Uzziah king of Judah. Then the Lord my God will come and all His holy ones with you.” Zechariah 14:1-5

Remarkable, Jesus says that he is the One who possesses a glorious throne, and who will come on the clouds with all his angels in order to judge all the nations:

“Jesus said to them, ‘Truly I say to you, in the regeneration, when the Son of Man sits on His glorious throne, you who have followed Me will also sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.’” Matthew 19:28

“And Jesus said unto them, Verily I say unto you, That ye which have followed me, in the regeneration when the Son of man shall sit in the throne of his glory, ye also shall sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.” Matthew 19:28 AV

“For the Son of Man shall come with HIS angels in the glory of HIS Father, and then HE will repay every man according to his works.” Matthew 16:27

“When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory:” Matthew 25:31 AV

“‘When the Son of Man comes in HIS glory, and all the holy angels with HIM, then HE will sit on the throne of HIS glory. Before HIM will be gathered all nations, and HE will separate them one from another as a shepherd separates his sheep from the goats. HE will set the sheep at HIS right hand, but the goats at the left. Then THE KING will say to those at HIS right hand, “Come, you blessed of MY Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you since the foundation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave Me food, I was thirsty and you gave Me drink, I was a stranger and you took Me in. I was naked and you clothed Me, I was sick and you visited Me, I was in prison and you came to Me.” Then the righteous will answer HIM, “LORD, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You drink? When did we see You a stranger and take You in, or naked and clothe You? And when did we see You sick or in prison and come to You?” THE KING will answer, “Truly I say to you, as you have done it for one of the least of these brothers of Mine, you have done it for Me.” Then HE will say to those at the left hand, “Depart from Me, you cursed, into the eternal fire, prepared for the devil and his angels. For I was hungry and you gave Me no food, I was thirsty and you gave Me no drink, I was a stranger and you did not take Me in, I was naked and you did not clothe Me, I was sick and in prison and you did not visit Me.” Then they also will answer HIM, “LORD, when did we see You hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not serve You?” HE will answer, “Truly I say to you, as you did it not for one of the least of these, you did it not for Me.” And they will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.’ When Jesus had finished all these sayings, He said to His disciples, ‘You know that after two days is the Passover, and the Son of Man will be betrayed to be crucified.’” Matthew 25:31-46, 26:1-2

What makes this last passage all the more remarkable is that Muhammad took Jesus’ own words and placed them into the mouth of his own god!

On the authority of Abu Hurayrah, who said that the Messenger of Allah said: Allah (mighty and sublime be He) will say on the Day of Resurrection: O son of Adam, I fell ill and you visited Me not. He will say: O Lord, and how should I visit You when You are the Lord of the worlds? He will say: Did you not know that My servant So-and-so had fallen ill and you visited him not? Did you not know that had you visited him you would have found Me with him? O son of Adam, I asked you for food and you fed Me not. He will say: O Lord, and how should I feed You when You are the Lord of the worlds? He will say: Did you not know that My servant So-and-so asked you for food and you fed him not? Did you not know that had you fed him you would surely have found that (the reward for doing so) with Me? O son of Adam, I asked you to give Me to drink and you gave Me not to drink. He will say: O Lord, how should I give You to drink when You are the Lord of the worlds? He will say: My servant So-and-so asked you to give him to drink and you gave him not to drink. Had you given him to drink you would have surely found that with Me.

Hence, even Muhammad could see that the things that Jesus does are that which God alone can do!

Our glorious Lord further claims to be the Truth and Life-giver who comes on the last day to raise all the dead from their graves by the power of his sovereign voice!

“For as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, even so the Son gives life to whom He will. The Father judges no one, but has committed all judgment to the Son…Truly, truly I say to you, the hour is coming, and is now here, when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God, and those who hear will live… and has given Him authority to execute judgment also, because He is the Son of Man. Do not marvel at this. For the hour is coming in which all who are in the graves will hear His [the Son’s] voice and come out—those who have done good to the resurrection of life, and those who have done evil to the resurrection of judgment.” John 5:21-22, 25, 27-29

“‘All whom the Father gives Me will come to Me, and he who comes to Me I will never cast out. For I came down from heaven, not to do My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me. This is the will of the Father who has sent Me, that of all whom He has given Me, I should lose nothing, but should raise it up at the last day. This is the will of Him who sent Me, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in Him may have eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day.’ The Jews then murmured about Him, because He said, ‘I am the bread which came down from heaven.’ They said, ‘Is this not Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? How is it then that He says, “I have come down from heaven”?’ Jesus therefore answered them, ‘Do not murmur among yourselves. No one can come to Me unless the Father who has sent Me draws him. And I will raise him up on the last day.’” John 6:37-44

“Jesus said to her, ‘Your brother will rise again.’ Martha said to Him, ‘I know that he will rise again in the resurrection on the last day.’ Jesus said to her, ‘I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, yet shall he live. And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?’ She said to Him, ‘Yes, Lord, I believe that You are the Christ, the Son of God, who is to come into the world.’” John 11:23-27

“Jesus said to him, ‘I am the way, THE TRUTH, and THE LIFE. No one comes to the Father except through Me.’” John 14:6

Thus, since Jesus does and says the very things that both the Hebrew Bible and the Quran plainly teach God alone says and does, could our risen Lord have been any more clearer in expressing the fact of his being God Almighty in the flesh (even though he is not the Father or the Holy Spirit)?
