In this post, I am going to show how to use the Jehovah’s Witnesses’ own translation of the Holy Bible, known as the New World Translation (NWT), to prove that Jesus Christ is Jehovah God in the flesh, even though he is not the Father or the Holy Spirit. The NWT can be read online here https://www.jw.org/en/publications/bible/study-bible/books/.
The Lord Jesus taught that a person cannot be a slave of two lords, since s/he will not be able love both equally:
“No one can slave for two masters (kyriois); for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will stick to the one and despise the other. You cannot slave for God and for Riches.” Matthew 6:24
Kyriois is the plural form of kyrios, which is the Greek word for “Lord.” In fact, this is the very term that the NT employs in the place of God’s covenant name Yahweh/Jehovah (cf. Mark 1:3; 12:29-30).
Moreover, the Old Testament teaches that Jehovah is the only Lord that a believer has in heaven, and is therefore the only heavenly Being that a person is to serve and trust in:
“Whom do I have in the heavens? And besides you I desire nothing on earth.” Psalm 73:25
“To you I raise my eyes, You who are enthroned in the heavens. As the eyes of servants look to the hand of their master, And the eyes of a servant girl to the hand of her mistress, So our eyes look to Jehovah our God Until he shows us favor.” Psalm 123:1-2
The Hebrew Scriptures further proclaim that Jehovah sits enthroned in heaven over all creation:
“The One enthroned in the heavens will laugh; Jehovah will scoff at them.” Psalm 2:4
“Jehovah is in his holy temple. Jehovah’s throne is in the heavens. His own eyes see, his watchful eyes examine the sons of men.” Psalm 11:4
“Jehovah has firmly established his throne in the heavens; And his kingship rules over everything.” Psalm 103:19
“This is what Jehovah says: ‘The heavens are my throne, and the earth is my footstool. Where, then, is the house that you could build for me, And where is my resting-place?’” Isaiah 66:1
“For this is what the High and Lofty One says, Who lives forever and whose name is holy: ‘I reside in the high and holy place, But also with those crushed and lowly in spirit, To revive the spirit of the lowly And to revive the heart of those being crushed.’” Isaiah 57:15
In fact, the heavens are the one place where Jehovah does not allow anyone to reign from or share his rule:
“Who is like Jehovah our God, The one who dwells* on high?” Psalm 113:5
* Or “sits enthroned.”
“As for the heavens, they belong to Jehovah, But the earth he has given to the sons of men.” Psalm 115:16
And according to the Christian Greek Scriptures, angels are spiritual beings created to serve God and those who will obtain salvation:
“Also, he says about the angels: ‘He makes his angels spirits, and his ministers a flame of fire.’… Are they not all spirits for holy service, sent out to minister for those who are going to inherit salvation?” Hebrews 1:7, 14
“At that I fell down before his feet to worship him. But he tells me: ‘Be careful! Do not do that! I am only a fellow slave of you and of your brothers who have the work of witnessing concerning Jesus. Worship God! For the witness concerning Jesus is what inspires prophecy.’” Revelation 19:10
“Well I, John, was the one hearing and seeing these things. When I heard and saw them, I fell down to worship at the feet of the angel who had been showing me these things. But he tells me: ‘Be careful! Do not do that! I am only a fellow slave of you and of your brothers the prophets and of those observing the words of this scroll. Worship God.’” Revelation 22:8-9
As such, Jehovah is the only Lord that a person must serve or slave for, and he is the only Lord in heaven who rules over all things.
With the foregoing in perspective we are ready to move onto the second part of our discussion https://islamunmasked.com/2018/10/09/jesus-is-jehovah-god-according-to-the-jehovahs-witnesses-bible-pt-1b/.
