More Proof from the Jehovah’s Witnesses’ Bible that Jesus is Jehovah

In this post, I am going to again employ the New World Translation (NWT) of the Jehovah’s Witnesses (JWs) to show how even this (per)version of the Holy Bible testifies to the eternal Deity of the Lord Jesus Christ. The readers can access the Society’s various Bible versions online (https://www.jw.org/en/library/bible/). I will be employing the 2013 revision of the NWT.

According to the Hebrew Bible, Jehovah is the only God whom the nations are to ascribe glory to, and are required to glorify:

“Declare his glory among the nations, His wonderful works among all the peoples. For Jehovah is great and most worthy of praise. He is more awe-inspiring than all other gods. All the gods of the peoples are worthless gods, But Jehovah is the one who made the heavens. In his presence are majesty and splendor; Strength and joy are in his dwelling place. Give Jehovah his due, you families of the peoples, Give Jehovah his due for his glory and strength. Give Jehovah the glory due his name; Bring a gift and come in before him. Bow down to Jehovah in holy adornment.” 1 Chronicles 16:24-29

“Give Jehovah his due, you sons of mighty ones, Give Jehovah his due for his glory and strength. Give Jehovah the glory due his name. Bow down to Jehovah in holy adornment.” Psalm 29:1-2

The Old Testament (OT) further attests that none of the gods or spirit sons of God resemble Jehovah or are mighty as him, which is why they are also required to ascribe to glory to his name:

There is none like you among the gods, O Jehovah, There are no works like yours. All the nations that you made Will come and bow down before you, O Jehovah, And they will give glory to your name. For you are great and do wondrous things; You are God, you alone.” Psalm 86:8-10

“The heavens praise your marvels, O Jehovah, Yes, your faithfulness in the congregation of the holy ones. For who in the skies can compare to Jehovah? Who among the sons of God is like Jehovah? God is held in awe in the council of holy ones; He is grand and awe-inspiring to all who are around him. O Jehovah God of armies, Who is mighty like you, O Jah? Your faithfulness surrounds you.” Psalm 89:5-8

In fact, the God-breathed Scriptures attest that angelic creatures are servants who stand before Jehovah’s throne render to service to Jehovah and his elect people:

“Mi·caiʹah then said: ‘Therefore, hear the word of Jehovah: I saw Jehovah sitting on his throne and all the army of the heavens standing by him, to his right and to his left.’” 1 Kings 22:19

“I kept watching until thrones were set in place and the Ancient of Days sat down. His clothing was white like snow, and the hair of his head was like clean wool. His throne was flames of fire; its wheels were a burning fire. A stream of fire was flowing and going out from before him. A thousand thousands kept ministering to him, and ten thousand times ten thousand stood before him. The Court took its seat, and books were opened.” Daniel 7:9-10

“He makes his angels spirits, His ministers a consuming fire.” Psalm 104:4

“Also, he says about the angels: ‘He makes his angels spirits, and his ministers a flame of fire.’… Are they not all spirits for holy service, sent out to minister for those who are going to inherit salvation?” Hebrews 1:7, 14

“Well I, John, was the one hearing and seeing these things. When I heard and saw them, I fell down to worship at the feet of the angel who had been showing me these things. But he tells me: ‘Be careful! Do not do that! I am only a fellow slave of you and of your brothers the prophets and of those observing the words of this scroll. Worship God.’” Revelation 22:8-9

As such, angels are not be glorified nor do they share in the glory that belongs to Jehovah.

And yet the inspired writings of the New Testament (NT) claim that Jesus is God’s uniquely begotten Son whom God glorifies in the same way that the Son glorifies God:

“So the Word became flesh and resided among us, and we had a view of his glory, a glory such as belongs to an only-begotten son from a father; and he was full of divine favor and truth.” John 1:14

“Jesus answered: ‘If I glorify myself, my glory is nothing. It is my Father who glorifies me, the one who you say is your God. Yet you have not known him, but I know him. And if I said I do not know him, I would be like you, a liar. But I do know him and am observing his word.’” John 8:54-55

“When, therefore, he had gone out, Jesus said: ‘Now the Son of man is glorified, and God is glorified in connection with him. God himself will glorify him, and he will glorify him immediately.’” John 13:31-32

Jesus is further said to have coexisted alongside the Father in the very same glory from before the creation of the world:

“Jesus spoke these things, and raising his eyes to heaven, he said: ‘Father, the hour has come. Glorify your son so that your son may glorify you, just as you have given him authority over all flesh, so that he may give everlasting life to all those whom you have given to him… So now, Father, glorify me at your side with the glory that I had alongside you before the world was… Father, I want those whom you have given me to be with me where I am, in order that they may look upon my glory that you have given me, because you loved me before the founding of the world.’” John 17:1-2, 5, 24

The NT even states that Christ is actually the reflection of God’s very own glory who is the exact imprint of God’s very own uncreated, infinite being who is just as mighty as God, since Christ is the One who personally sustains all creation by his own powerful word:

“Now at the end of these days he has spoken to us by means of a Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom he made the systems of things.  He is the reflection of God’s glory and the exact representation of his very being, and he sustains all things by the word of his power. And after he had made a purification for our sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high.” Hebrews 1:2-3

Only someone who is Almighty can preserve all creation alive, and that someone according to the Hebrew Scriptures is Jehovah himself:

“You alone are Jehovah; you made the heavens, yes, the heaven of the heavens and all their army, the earth and all that is on it, the seas and all that is in them. And you preserve all of them alive, and the army of the heavens are bowing down to you.” Nehemiah 9:6

Therefore, Jesus must be Jehovah in the flesh seeing that he is the One sustaining the entire creation.

As if this weren’t amazing enough, John saw the entire creation worshiping Christ in the same exact manner that God himself is worshiped:

“When he took the scroll, the four living creatures and the 24 elders fell down before the Lamb, and each one had a harp and golden bowls that were full of incense. (The incense means the prayers of the holy ones.) And they sing a new song, saying: ‘You are worthy to take the scroll and open its seals, for you were slaughtered and with your blood you bought people for God out of every tribe and tongue and people and nation, and you made them to be a kingdom and priests to our God, and they are to rule as kings over the earth.’ And I saw, and I heard a voice of many angels around the throne and the living creatures and the elders, and the number of them was myriads of myriads and thousands of thousands, and they were saying with a loud voice: ‘The Lamb who was slaughtered is worthy to receive the power and riches and wisdom and strength and honor and GLORY and blessing.’ And I heard EVERY CREATURE in heaven and on earth and underneath the earth and on the sea, AND ALL THE THINGS IN THEM, saying: ‘To the One sitting on the throne AND TO THE LAMB be the blessing and the honor and THE GLORY and the might forever and ever.’ The four living creatures were saying: ‘Amen!’ and the elders fell down and worshipped.” Revelation 5:8-14

John virtually exhausts the language in order to depict every created thing in the entire creation attributing to the Lamb the same blessing, honor, glory, and might that are ascribed to God Almighty. This not only affirms that Jesus is worthy of the same exact glory and praise that the Father receives but further shows that he is no mere creature. Rather, like God the Father, Jesus is separated from every created thing in existence since, just like God, he is uncreated by nature.

Clearly, Jesus is Jehovah God Almighty in the flesh even though he is not the Father or the Holy Spirit!
