MORE EXAMPLES OF MUHAMMAD’S FOUL MOUTH

In this post I will share some more examples of the foul mouth of both Muhammad and his companions, showing that neither he nor they were above insulting their opponents in the most graphic and vulgar manner.

For instance, Muhammad bluntly and explicitly told people who boasted in their lineage to bite their fathers’ penises!

41 Gestures

(436) Chapter

‘Ubayy ibn Damura said, “I saw with Ubay a man who was attributing himself (in lineage) with an attribution of Jahiliyyah, so Ubay told him to bite his father’s male organ and did not speak figuratively (i.e. was explicit). So his companions looked at him. He said, ‘It appears that you disapprove of it.’ Then he said, ‘I will never show apprehension to anyone with regards to this. Verily, I heard the Prophet say, “Whomever attributes himself (in lineage) with an attribution of Jahiliyyah, then tell him to bite his father’s male organ AND DO NOT SPEAK FIGURATIVELY (i.e. be explicit).”’”

In-book reference: Book 41, Hadith 12

And:

Ubayy b. Ka‘b told that he heard God’s messenger say, “If anyone proudly asserts his descent in the manner of the pre-Islamic people, tell him to bite his father’s penis, AND DO NOT USE A EUPHEMISM.” It is transmitted in Sarah [sic] as-sunna. (Mishkat Al Masabih, English Translation With Explanatory Notes By Dr. James Robson [Sh. Muhammad Ashraf Publishers, Booksellers & Exporters, Lahore, Pakistan, Reprinted 1994], Volume II, Book XXIV – General Behaviour, Chapter XIII. Boasting and Party-Spirit, p. 1021; bold and capital emphasis mine)

{Sidenote: Sarah is a misspelling for Sharh, so that it should have read Sharh as-sunna.}

Muhammad wasn’t the only one to use such foul and vulgar language in his Quran. His companions did as well:

… Then ‘Urwah said: “Muhammad, tell me: if you extirpate your tribesmen, have you ever heard of any of the Arabs who destroyed his own race before you? And if the contrary comes to pass, by God I see both prominent people and rabble who are likely to flee and leave you.” Abu Bakr said, “Go suck the clitoris of al-Lat!” – al-Lat was the idol of Thaqif, which they used to worship – “Would we flee and leave him?” … (The History of al-Tabari – The Victory of Islam, translated by Michael Fishbein [State University of New York Press (SUNY), Albany 1997], Volume VIII (8), p. 76; emphasis mine)

The example of Muhammad and his followers led Muslim scholars and jurists to conclude that referring to the private parts of an opponent in order to mock and humiliate them:

And in the words of Abu Bakr As-Sideeq to ‘Urwah: “Suck Al-Lat’s clitoris![2] – there is a permissibility of speaking plainly the name of the private parts if there is some benefit to be gained thereby, just as he [Muhammad] permitted a plain response to the one who made the claims of the Jahiliyyah (i.e. claims of tribal superiority), by saying: “Bite your father’s penis!”[3] And for every situation there is a (fitting) saying. (Provisions for the Hereafter (Mukhtasar Zad Al-Ma’ad), by Imam Ibn Qayyim Al-Jawziyyah, summarized by Imam Muhammad Ibn Abdul Wahhab At-Tamimi [Darussalam Publishers & Distributors, First Edition: September 2003], Chapter. Regarding the Story of Al-Hudaibiyyah, p. 383; source; emphasis and words within brackets mine)

[3] Narrated by Ahmad, on the authority of Ubayy Ibn Ka’b. (Ibid.)

So much for Muhammad being a beacon of morality and a role model for humanity.

CLEMENT OF ROME AND CHRIST’S DEITY

In this post I will quote from a letter attributed to Clement of Rome, which was written to address the Ephesian churches’ deposing their elders. The epistle has been dated to the last three decades of the first century, with the most common date of composition placed at the end of the reign of Domitian, ca. AD 96.

What makes Clement’s witness vitally important is that he was a disciple of the Apostles, and may have even been mentioned by Paul as a fellow laborer whose name was written in heaven:

“I exhort Euodia and Syntyche to be of the same mind in the Lord. I ask you also, true companion, help those women who labored with me in the gospel, with Clement also, and with my other fellow laborers, whose names are in the Book of Life.” Philippians 4:2-3 Modern English Version (MEV)

Moreover, Clement eventually became the bishop of the church at Rome, which is why his claims become so valuable.

In his letter reprimanding the Ephesians, Clement writes:

Chapter 58. Submission the Precursor of Salvation.

Let us, therefore, flee from the warning threats pronounced by Wisdom on the disobedient, and yield submission to His all-holy and glorious name, that we may stay our trust upon the most hallowed name of His majesty. Receive our counsel, and you shall be without repentance. For, as God lives, and as the Lord Jesus Christ and the Holy Ghost live (Ze gar ho Theos kai Ze ho Kyrios ‘Iesous Christos kai to Pneuma to Hagion) — both the faith and hope of the elect, he who in lowliness of mind, with instant gentleness, and without repentance has observed the ordinances and appointments given by God— the same shall obtain a place and name in the number of those who are being saved through Jesus Christ, through whom is glory to Him for ever and ever. Amen. (Clement of Rome, First Epistle)

Here’s another translation:

“… (2) Accept our advice and you will have nothing to regret. For as God lives, and as the Lord Jesus Christ lives, and the Holy Spirit (who are the faith and the hope of the elect)…” (The Apostolic Fathers, Greek Texts And English Translations, edited and revised by Michael W. Holmes [Baker Books, Grand Rapids, MI 1999], p. 95)

Clement attributes to the Father, Son and Spirit a stereotypical formula that the Old Testament ascribes to no other heavenly Being except Yahweh:

“Then she said, ‘Please let the king remember Yahweh your God, that the avenger of blood destroy not any more, lest they destroy my son.’ He said, ‘As Yahweh lives, not one hair of your son shall fall to the earth.’” 2 Samuel 14:11 World English Bible (WEB)

“Elijah said to him, ‘Elisha, please wait here, for Yahweh has sent me to Jericho.’ He said, ‘As Yahweh lives, and as your soul lives, I will not leave you.’ So they came to Jericho… Elijah said to him, ‘Please wait here, for Yahweh has sent me to the Jordan.’ He said, ‘As Yahweh lives, and as your soul lives, I will not leave you.’ Then they both went on.” 2 Kings 2:4, 6 WEB

“Micaiah said, ‘As Yahweh lives, I will say what my God says.’” 2 Chronicles 18:13 WEB

“‘Therefore behold, the days come,’ says Yahweh, ‘that it will no more be said, “As Yahweh lives, who brought up the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt;” but, “As Yahweh lives, who brought up the children of Israel from the land of the north, and from all the countries where he had driven them.” I will bring them again into their land that I gave to their fathers.’” Jeremiah 16:14-15 WEB

“So Zedekiah the king swore secretly to Jeremiah, saying, ‘As Yahweh lives, who made us this soul, I will not put you to death, neither will I give you into the hand of these men who seek your life.’” Jeremiah 38:16 WEB

“Though you, Israel, play the prostitute, yet don’t let Judah offend; and don’t come to Gilgal, neither go up to Beth Aven, nor swear, ‘As Yahweh lives.’” Hosea 4:15 WEB

Seeing how Clement applied this OT formulaic expression to the Father, Son and Spirit, is strong evidence for his believing in the Trinity. I.e., for Clement, God, Christ and the Holy Spirit are the very Yahweh whom the OT prophets worshiped.

The following citation further cements this fact:

43.… (6) What do you think, dear friends? Did not Moses know beforehand that this would happen? Of course he knew. But in order that disorder might not arise in Israel, he did it anyway, so that the name of the true and only God (to onoma tou alethinou kai monou Theou [variant reading – Kyriou (Lord)]) might be glorified, to whom be the glory for ever and ever. Amen. (Holmes, pp. 75, 77)

Clement is clear that there is only one true [Lord] God, which in turn demonstrates that he must have believed the Father, Son and Spirit are indeed the true and only Lord God that exists.

Clement further speaks of the vicarious death of Christ and the need for believers to love the risen Lord by obeying his commandments in order to obtain forgiveness of sins:

Chapter 49. The Praise of Love.

Let him who has love in Christ keep the commandments of Christ. Who can describe the [blessed] bond of the love of God? What man is able to tell the excellence of its beauty, as it ought to be told? The height to which love exalts is unspeakable. Love unites us to God. Love covers a multitude of sins. Love bears all things, is long-suffering in all things. There is nothing base, nothing arrogant in love. Love admits of no schisms: love gives rise to no seditions: love does all things in harmony. By love have all the elect of God been made perfect; without love nothing is well-pleasing to God. In love has the Lord taken us to Himself. On account of the love He bore us, Jesus Christ our Lord gave His blood for us by the will of God; His flesh for our flesh, and His soul for our souls.

Chapter 50. Let Us Pray to Be Thought Worthy of Love.

You see, beloved, how great and wonderful a thing is love, and that there is no declaring its perfection. Who is fit to be found in it, except such as God has vouchsafed to render so? Let us pray, therefore, and implore of His mercy, that we may live blameless in love, free from all human partialities for one above another. All the generations from Adam even unto this day have passed away; but those who, through the grace of God, have been made perfect in love, now possess a place among the godly, and shall be made manifest at the revelation of the kingdom of Christ. For it is written, Enter into your secret chambers for a little time, until my wrath and fury pass away; and I will remember a propitious day, and will raise you up out of your graves. Isaiah 26:20 Blessed are we, beloved, if we keep the commandments of God in the harmony of love; that so through love our sins may be forgiven us. For it is written, Blessed are they whose transgressions are forgiven, and whose sins are covered. Blessed is the man whose sin the Lord will not impute to him, and in whose mouth there is no guile. This blessedness comes upon those who have been chosen by God through Jesus Christ our Lord; to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.

Clement even quotes Isaiah 53 and Psalm 22 as prophesying Christ’s crucifixion, death, resurrection and glorification. He even describes Jesus as the majestic Scepter of God, i.e., the One through Whom God rules over creation:

Chapter 16. Christ as an Example of Humility.

For Christ is of those who are humble-minded, and not of those who exalt themselves over His flockOur Lord Jesus Christ, the Sceptre of the majesty of God (to skeptron tes megalosynes tou Theou, ho Kyrios hemon Christos ‘Iesous), did not come in the pomp of pride or arrogance, although He might have done so, but in a lowly condition, as the Holy Spirit had declared regarding Him. For He says, Lord, who has believed our report, and to whom is the arm of the Lord revealed? We have declared [our message] in His presence: He is, as it were, a child, and like a root in thirsty ground; He has no form nor glory, yea, we saw Him, and He had no form nor comeliness; but His form was without eminence, yea, deficient in comparison with the [ordinary] form of men. He is a man exposed to stripes and suffering, and acquainted with the endurance of grief: for His countenance was turned away; He was despised, and not esteemed. He bears our iniquities, and is in sorrow for our sakes; yet we supposed that [on His own account] He was exposed to labour, and stripes, and affliction. But He was wounded for our transgressions, and bruised for our iniquities. The chastisement of our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we were healed. All we, like sheep, have gone astray; [every] man has wandered in his own way; and the Lord has delivered Him up for our sins, while He in the midst of His sufferings opens not His mouth. He was brought as a sheep to the slaughter, and as a lamb before her shearer is dumb, so He opens not His mouth. In His humiliation His judgment was taken away; who shall declare His generation? For His life is taken from the earth. For the transgressions of my people was He brought down to death. And I will give the wicked for His sepulchre, and the rich for His death, because He did no iniquity, neither was guile found in His mouth. And the Lord is pleased to purify him by stripes. If you make an offering for sin, your soul shall see a long-lived seed. And the Lord is pleased to relieve Him of the affliction of His soul, to show Him light, and to form Him with understanding, to justify the Just One who ministers well to many; and He Himself shall carry their sins. On this account He shall inherit many, and shall divide the spoil of the strong; because His soul was delivered to death, and He was reckoned among the transgressors, and He bare the sins of many, and for their sins was He delivered. And again He says, I am a worm, and no man; a reproach of men, and despised of the people. All that see me have derided me; they have spoken with their lips; they have wagged their head, [saying] He hoped in God, let Him deliver Him, let Him save Him, since He delights in Him. You see, beloved, what is the example which has been given us; for if the Lord thus humbled Himself, what shall we do who have through Him come under the yoke of His grace?

Here’s Holmes again:

“… (2) The majestic scepter of God, our Lord Jesus Christ…” (Ibid., p. 45)

Clement mentions Jesus’ high priestly role where he mediates the offerings made by Christians, being the Defender/Guard and Helper of believers:

Chapter 36. All Blessings are Given to Us Through Christ.

This is the way, beloved, in which we find our Saviour, even Jesus Christ, the High Priest of all our offerings, the defender and helper of our infirmity. By Him we look up to the heights of heaven. By Him we behold, as in a glass, His immaculate and most excellent visage. By Him are the eyes of our hearts opened. By Him our foolish and darkened understanding blossoms up anew towards His marvellous light. By Him the Lord has willed that we should taste of immortal knowledgewho, being the brightness of His majesty, is by so much greater than the angels, as He has by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than theyHebrews 1:3-4 For it is thus written, Who makes His angels spirits, and His ministers a flame of fire. But concerning His Son the Lord spoke thus: You are my Son, today have I begotten You. Ask of me, and I will give You the heathen for Your inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for Your possession. And again He says to Him, Sit at my right hand, until I make Your enemies Your footstool. But who are His enemies? All the wicked, and those who set themselves to oppose the will of God.

Here’s Holmes’ rendering:

36.… Jesus Christ, the High Priest of our offerings, the Guardian and Helper of our weakness… through him we see as in a mirror his faultless and transcendent face… (Ibid., p. 69; emphasis mine)

Finally, and remarkably, Clement states that Christ spoke the words of Psalm 34 through the Holy Spirit who moved the prophets to record the words of Scripture:

Chapter 22. These Exhortations are Confirmed by the Christian Faith, Which Proclaims the Misery of Sinful Conduct.

Now the faith which is in Christ confirms all these [admonitions]. For He Himself by the Holy Ghost (dia tou Pneumatos tou Hagiou) thus addresses usCome, you children, hearken unto me; I will teach you the fear of the Lord. What man is he that desires life, and loves to see good days? Keep your tongue from evil, and your lips from speaking guile. Depart from evil, and do good; seek peace, and pursue it. The eyes of the Lord are upon the righteous, and His ears are [open] unto their prayers. The face of the Lord is against them that do evil, to cut off the remembrance of them from the earth. The righteous cried, and the Lord heard him, and delivered him out of all his troubles. Many are the stripes [appointed for] the wicked; but mercy shall compass those about who hope in the Lord.

Clement was merely echoing what the Apostles who taught him stated in the God-breathed writings:

“Concerning this salvation, the prophets who prophesied of the grace that should come to you have inquired and searched diligently, seeking the events and time the Spirit of Christ, who was within them, signified when He foretold the sufferings of Christ and the glories to follow. It was revealed to them that they were not serving themselves but you, concerning the things which are now reported to you by those who have preached the gospel to you through the Holy Spirit, who was sent from heaven—things into which the angels desire to look.” 1 Peter 1:10-12 MEV

This shows that Clement, in complete agreement with the risen Lord’s Jewish disciples, not only affirmed Christ’s prehuman existence but also taught that Jesus is the human incarnation of YHWH.

We know this to be the case since the Holy Bible, particularly the Old Testament, emphatically teaches that it was the Holy Spirit of YHWH Almighty who spoke in and through the holy prophets:

“Now these are the last words of David. David the son of Jesse says, the man who was raised on high says, the anointed of the God of Jacob, the sweet psalmist of Israel: “Yahweh’s Spirit spoke by me. His word was on my tongue. The God of Israel said, the Rock of Israel spoke to me, ‘One who rules over men righteously, who rules in the fear of God,” 2 Samuel 23:1-3 WEB

“You gave also your good Spirit to instruct them, and didn’t withhold your manna from their mouth, and gave them water for their thirst… Yet many years you put up with them, and testified against them by your Spirit through your prophets. Yet they would not listen. Therefore you gave them into the hand of the peoples of the lands.” Nehemiah 9:20, 30 WEB

“But as for me, I am full of power by Yahweh’s Spirit, and of judgment, and of might, to declare to Jacob his disobedience, and to Israel his sin.” Micah 3:8 WEB

“Yes, they made their hearts as hard as flint, lest they might hear the law, and the words which Yahweh of Armies had sent by his Spirit by the former prophets. Therefore great wrath came from Yahweh of Armies.” Zechariah 7:12 WEB

“But know this first of all, that no prophecy of the Scripture is a matter of one’s own interpretation. For no prophecy at any time was produced by the will of man, but holy men moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God.” 2 Peter 1:20-21 MEV

Hence, since it was YHWH’S Spirit that inspired the prophets, with Clement and the Apostles teaching that it was actually Jesus’ Spirit that did so, then this conclusively shows that both Clement and Christ’s inspired emissaries believed that the Son is none other than YHWH God Almighty in the flesh.

To top it off, Clement offers doxologies through Christ to the Father, and personally invokes the risen Lord to bestow his grace upon the recipients of the letter:

Chapter 61. Prayer Continued — For Rulers and Governors. Conclusion.

To our rulers and governors on the earth — to them You, Lord, gave the power of the kingdom by Your glorious and ineffable might, to the end that we may know the glory and honour given to them by You and be subject to them, in nought resisting Your will; to them, Lord, give health, peace, concord, stability, that they may exercise the authority given to them without offense. For You, O heavenly Lord and King eternal, givest to the sons of men glory and honour and power over the things that are on the earth; do Thou, Lord, direct their counsel according to that which is good and well-pleasing in Your sight, that, devoutly in peace and meekness exercising the power given them by You, they may find You propitious. O Thou, who only has power to do these things and more abundant good with us, we praise You through the High Priest and Guardian of our souls Jesus Christ, through whom be glory and majesty to You both now and from generation to generation and for evermore. Amen.

Chapter 64. Blessings Sought for All that Call Upon God.

May God, who sees all things, and who is the Ruler of all spirits and the Lord of all flesh — who chose our Lord Jesus Christ and us through Him to be a peculiar Titus 2:14 people — grant to every soul that calls upon His glorious and holy name, faithfear, peace, patience, long-suffering, self-control, purity, and sobriety, to the well-pleasing of His name, through our High Priest and Protector, Jesus Christ, by whom be to Him glory, and majesty, and power, and honour, both now and for evermore. Amen.

Chapter 65. The Corinthians are Exhorted Speedily to Send Back Word that Peace Has Been Restored. The Benediction.

Send back speedily to us in peace and with joy these our messengers to you: Claudius Ephebus and Valerius Bito, with Fortunatus; that they may the sooner announce to us the peace and harmony we so earnestly desire and long for [among you], and that we may the more quickly rejoice over the good order re-established among you. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you, and with all everywhere that are the called of God through Him, by whom be to Him gloryhonour, power, majesty, and eternal dominion, from everlasting to everlasting. Amen.

2 CLEMENT

I will now be quoting from 2 Clement, which is the oldest extant Christian sermon. What makes this work so valuable is that, not only is it the earliest surviving sermon, but also because it is attached to 1 Clement in all the surviving manuscripts containing it, and hence its attribution to Clement.

As the following source indicates:

INTRODUCTORY NOTICE

TO THE HOMILY KNOWN AS

THE SECOND EPISTLE OF CLEMENT.

It is gratifying that our series is marked by tokens of critical progress, and not less cheering tokens of scientific research. The clearing-up of much that has perplexed us about Hermas; the Bryennios discovery; and, not least, the completion of this fragment, which has long been a scandal to patristic inquiry,—are surely such tokens. They enrich the reader with definite ideas on many collateral subjects. May they not stimulate American scholarship and American affluence to fresh enterprises of the same character for the advancement of learning, and the glory of the world’s Redeemer and Illuminator?

The very early date to which this homily is now assigned makes its slightest allusions to the New-Testament canon of very great importance. I have ventured to indicate a few such, even where they may be mere allusions, not textual quotations: as, e.g., on p. 517, at notes 20 and 22, slight indications of a reference to the Second Epistle of St. Peter and to the Apocalypse.3838

I shall have occasion to refer to this work in the elucidation of the Liturgies which are to follow. If it be, as Bishop Lightfoot supposes, a homily of the second century, it may lend important retrospective aid to the student of these volumes in other particulars; but, having entrusted this interesting relic to the editorial care of a most competent scholar, I shall not presume to anticipate his judgment in any matter.

3838 If this reference to 2 Pet. iii. 9 be probable, it is one of the earliest testimonies to the genuine character of that Epistle. The true Clement has two references to the same (pp. 8 and 11, vol. i., this series), and Justin also (vol. i. p. 240) is credited with a similar reference to 2 Peter and the Apocalypse. See Lardner, Credib., vol. ii. p. 123 et seq. (Ancient Homilies, https://ccel.org/ccel/clement_rome/homily/anf07.x.i.html; emphasis mine)

Patristic scholar Michael L. Holmes writes:

The so-called second letter of Clement is not a letter, nor is it by Clement. It is, in fact, a sermon or “word of exhortation” composed by an anonymous presbyter (17.3). It is the OLDEST COMPLETE CHRISTIAN SERMON that has survived. Based upon a text from Isaiah (54:1 see 2.1 below), it presents a call to repentance, purity, and steadfastness in the face of persecution. The “reader” (19.1) of the sermon, addressing a primarily Gentile congregation (1.6; 3.1), may also be reacting against Gnostic influences (10.5; cf. the stress on the deity of Jesus [1.1] and the resurrection and judgment [9.1-5]). Beyond this, however, almost nothing is known about its author, date, or occasion…

In the manuscripts in which it is preserved, 2 Clement immediately follows 1 Clement, the letter addressed to the Corinthians by Clement of Rome, to whom it is attributed. This suggests that 2 Clement must have either been preached in Corinth or sent there for some purpose, and any attempt to reconstruct a possible setting for the document must take this into account. Among the more plausible explanations that have been put forward are the following.

W. H. C. Frend places it in Rome, perhaps around A.D. 100. E. J. Goodspeed has adopted the view that 2 Clement is really the lost letter of Bishop Soter of Rome mentioned by Bishop Dionysius of Corinth (ca. 170), but this ingenious suggestion faces the difficulty that the document in question is certainly not a letter…

Lightfoot long ago noted that the reference in 7.1 to people “coming to enter the contests,” without any identification of the location, implies that the speaker was near the site of the contests, in this case Corinth, home of the well-known Isthmian games. He suggests that 2 Clement was a sermon read to the Corinthian congregation sometime between A.D. 120 AND 140 that was for some reason particularly notable and therefore preserved, along with other important documents such as the letter from Bishop Soter mentioned by Bishop Dionysius and the earlier letter from the Roman church written by Clement, whose name was eventually attached to the anonymous sermon. This general hypothesis has been advanced further by K. P. Donald, who has argued well the case that the intervention of the Roman church into the affairs of the Corinthian congregation via 1 Clement and the mediators who conveyed it to Corinth was successful, the deposed elders were reinstated, and that 2 Clement is nothing other than a hortatory address preached by one of these elders to the congregation on the occasion of the successful resolution of the crisis. On this reading of the evidence the letter must be dated about A.D. 98-100.

Helmut Koester has suggested that 2 Clement is an anti-Gnostic sermon from Egypt prior to the middle of the second century, and that it thus may be “the first tangible evidence for the existence of anti-Gnostic Christianity in Egypt before the middle of II C.E.” But he forthrightly acknowledges that his hypothesis “is by no means certain.” The date and occasion of 2 Clement, then, remain open questions. (Ibid., pp. 102-104; emphasis mine)

With the foregoing in view, I now cite from the work itself:

CHAP. I.—WE OUGHT TO THINK HIGHLY OF CHRIST.

Brethren, it is fitting that you should think of Jesus Christ AS OF GOD (peri Iesou Christou, hos peri Theou),—as the Judge of the living and the dead. And it does not become us3849 to think lightly3850 of our salvation; for if we think little3851 of Him, we shall also hope but to obtain little from Him. And those of us3852 who hear carelessly of these things, as if they were of small importance, commit sin, not knowing whence we have been called, and by whom, and to what place, and how much Jesus Christ submitted to suffer for our sakes

CHAP. XIII.—DISOBEDIENCE CAUSETH GOD’S NAME TO BE BLASPHEMED.3932

Therefore, brethren,3933 let us now at length repent; let us be sober unto what is good; for we are full of much folly and wickedness. Let us blot out from us our former sins, and repenting from the soul let us be saved; and let us not become3934 men-pleasers, nor let us desire to please only one another,3935 but also the men that are without, by our righteousness, that the Name3936 be not blasphemed on account of us.3937 For the Lord also saith “Continually3938 My name is blasphemed among all the Gentiles,”3939 and again, “Woe3940 to him on account of whom My name is blasphemed.” Wherein is it blasphemed? In your not doing what I desire.3941 For the Gentiles, when they hear from our mouth the oracles of God,3942 marvel at them as beautiful and great; afterwards, when they have learned that our works are not worthy of the words we speak, they then turn themselves to blasphemy, saying that it is some fable and delusion. For when they hear from us THAT GOD SAITH,3943 “There is no thank unto you, if ye love them that love you; but there is thank unto you, if ye love your enemies and them that hate you;”3944 when they hear these things, they marvel at the excellency of the goodness; but when they see that we not only do not love them that hate us, but not even them that love us, they laugh us to scorn, and the Name is blasphemed…

3943 In view of the connection, this must mean “God in His oracles;” a significant testimony to the early belief in the inspiration of the Gospels.

3944 Luke vi. 27, 32, freely combined; comp. Matt. v. 44, 46. The use of χάρις υἠμιν shows that the quotation is from the former Gospel. (Second Epistle  https://ccel.org/ccel/clement_rome/homily/anf07.x.iii.html)

We have here another early attestation from sources outside of the NT canon for the widespread Christian belief in Jesus’ absolute Deity. Not only are believers exhorted to think of Jesus as God, but also the work attributes the Lord’s statements in Luke’s Gospel to the words spoken by God himself!

Note how Holmes renders these particular sections:

1. Brothers, we ought to think of Jesus Christ, as we do of God, as “Judge of the living and the dead.”1

1 Acts 10:42; cf. 1 Pet. 4:5. (Holmes, p. 107)

13.… (4) For when they hear from us THAT GOD SAYS, “It is no credit to you if you love those who love you, but it is credit to you if you love your enemies and those who hate you,”28 when they hear these things, they marvel at such extraordinary goodness…

28 Cf. Luke 6:32, 35. (Holmes, p. 119)

Hence, Christ’s speaking is none other than God speaking, which makes sense in light of the exhortation found earlier in this same work that Christians are to view Jesus as God.

QURANIC VARIANTS AND PREDESTINATION

In this post I will be citing a particular section from Aisha Bewley’s rendering of Sahih al-Bukhari showing that the Quran has not been perfectly preserved and that Muhammad reportedly taught strict predeterminism or hyper fatalism.

These allegedly sound reports show that Muhammad’s companions were unable to perfectly preserve the Quran since they failed to accurately memorize its contents, which resulted in their compiling conflicting and even contradictory codices.

The narratives also highlight how Muhammad supposedly believed that his deity had causally predetermined everything a person does and whether s/he will be destined for hell or paradise. All emphasis will be mine.

Here are the ahadith in question:

CDXXXI: Tafsir of Surat al-Layl, which begins “By the night when it conceals

Ibn ‘Abbas said, “And denies the Good” (92:9) is by opposition to it.

Mujahid said that “taradda” (92:11) means “to die” and “talazza” (92:14) means “to blaze”. ‘Ubayd ibn ‘Umayr recited, “tatalazza“.

CDXXXII: “By the day when it reveals” (92:2)

4659. It is related that ‘Alqama said “I went to Syria with a group of the companions of ‘Abdullah [ibn Mas’ud]. Abu’d-Darda’ heard about us and so he came to us and said, ‘Is there anyone among you who recites?’ We answered, ‘Yes.’ He asked, ‘Which of you is the best reciter?’ They indicated me and he said, ‘Recite.’ So I recited, ‘By the night when it conceals and the day when it reveals and the male and female.’ (92:1-3) He asked, ‘Did you hear it from the mouth of your companion?’ ‘Yes,’ I replied. He said, ‘And I heard it from the mouth of the Prophet but these people reject us.'”*

[because the usual reading is “the creation of male and female.”]

CDXXXXIII: “By the creation of male and female.” (92:3)

4660. It is related that Ibrahim said, “The companions of ‘Abdullah came to Abu’d-Darda’ and he looked for them and found them. He asked, ‘Which of you recites as ‘Abdullah recites?‘ He [‘Alqama] said, ‘All of us.’ He asked, ‘Which of you knows the most?’ They indicated ‘Alqama. He asked, ‘How did you hear him recite, “By the night when it conceals…”‘ ‘Alqama said, ‘By the male and female.’ He added, ‘I testify that I heard the Prophet recite it like that but these people want me to recite, ‘By the creation of male and female (ma khalaqa’dh-dhakara wa’l-uthna instead of wa’dh-dhakara wa’l-uthna). By Allah, I will not follow them!‘” (Bewly, The Sahih Collection of al-Bukhari, Chapter 68. Book of Tafsir https://bewley.virtualave.net/bukhari33.html)

Abdullah ibn Masud was one of four men whom Muhammad said to learn the Quran from, and was considered the most knowledgeable person in regards to the contents of the Muslim scripture:

Narrated Masruq: ‘Abdullah bin Masud was mentioned before Abdullah bin ‘Amr who said, “That is a man I still love, as I heard the Prophet saying ‘Learn the recitation of Quran from four from ‘Abdullah bin Mas’ud –he started with him–Salim, the freed slave of Abu Hudaifa, Mu’adh bin Jabal and Ubai bin Ka’b.” (Sahih al-Bukhari, Volume 5, Book 58, Number 153 https://www.searchtruth.com/book_display.php?book=58&translator=1&start=0&number=153)

Abdullah (bin Masud) reported that (he said to his companions to conceal their copies of the Qur’an) and further said: He who conceals anything shall have to bring that which he had concealed on the Day of Judgment, and they said: After whose mode of recitation do you command me to recite? I in fact recited before Allah’s Messenger more than seventy chapters of the Qur’an and the companions of Allah’s Messenger know that I have better understanding of the Book of Allah (than they do), and if I were to know that someone had better understanding than I, I would have gone to him. Shaqiq said: I sat in the company of the companions of Muhammad but I did not hear anyone having rejected that (that is, his recitation) or finding fault with it. (Sahih Muslim, Book 031, Number 6022 https://sunnah.com/muslim/44/162)

2 Musnad `Umar b. al-Khattab

It was narrated from Qais bin Marwan that he came to ‘Umar and said:

I have come from Koofah, O Ameer al-Mu’mineen, and I left behind in it a man who dictates the Mushaf FROM MEMORY. ‘Umar got exceedingly angry and said: Who is he, woe to you? He said: ‘Abdullah bin Mas’ood. ‘Umar began to calm down, and went back to normal, then he said: Woe to you, I DO NOT KNOW OF ANYONE WHO IS MORE QUALIFIED THAN HIM, and I will tell you about that. The Messenger of Allah used to stay up at night talking with Abu Bakr discussing some affairs of the Muslims. He stayed up talking with him one night, and I was with him. The Messenger of Allah went out, and we went out with him, and we saw a man standing and praying in the mosque. The Messenger of Allah listened to his recitation, and as soon as we recognised him the Messenger of Allah said: `Whoever would like to recite the Qur’an fresh as it was revealed, let him recite it ACCORDING TO THE RECITATION OF Ibn Umm ‘Abd.` Then the same man sat and offered supplication (du’a’) and the Messenger of Allah started saying to him: `Ask, you will be given; ask, you will be given.” ‘Umar said: By Allah, I shall go to him tomorrow and tell him the glad tidings. I went to him the next morning to tell him the glad tidings, and I found that Abu Bakr had beaten me to it and given him the glad tidings. By Allah, I never competed with him to do good but he beat me to it.

In-book reference: Book 2, Hadith 92 (sunnah.com https://sunnah.com/ahmad/2/92)

As the aforementioned hadiths noted, Ibn Masud’s Quran omitted a key term from Q. 92:3, which is found in the present text of the Islamic scripture:

“And by the creation of the male and the female,” Shakir

“And by the male and the female,” Ibn Masud

These next reports show that Muhammad clearly believed in hardcore fatalism:

CDXXXIV: His words, “As for him who gives out and is godfearing.” (92:5)

4661. It is related that ‘Ali said, “We were with the Prophet in Baqi’ al-Gharqad in a funeral and he said, “There is none of you but that his place in the Garden or his place in the Fire is written for him.’ They asked, ‘Messenger of Allah, shall we not rely on this?’ He said, ‘Act. Each is eased [to what he was created for].’ Then he recited, ‘As for him who gives out and is godfearing and confirms the Good, We will pave his way to Ease. But as for him who is stingy and self-satisfied, and denies the Good, We will pave his way to Difficulty.’ (92:5-10)”

CDXXXV: “And confirms the Good.” (92:6)

4662. It is related that ‘Ali said, “We were sitting with the Prophet …” and he mentioned the hadith.

CDXXXVI: “We will pave his way to Ease.” (92:7)

4663. It is related from ‘Ali that the Prophet was in a funeral and he took a stick and began to use it to make marking on the ground. He said, “There is none of you but that his place in the Garden or his place in the Fire is written for him.” They said, “Messenger of Allah, shall we not rely on this?” He said, “Act. Each is eased. ‘As for him who gives out and is godfearing and confirms the Good. We will pave his way to Difficulty’ (92:5-10)

Mansur said, “I do not deny that it is part of the hadith of Sulayman.”

CDXXXVII: “But as for him who is stingy and self-satisfied.” (92:8)

4664. It is related that ‘Ali said, “While we were sitting with the Prophet he said, ‘There is none of you but that his place in the Garden or his place in the Fire is written for him.’ We asked, ‘Messenger, shall we not rely on this?’ He said, ‘No, act. Each is eased [to what he was created for].’ Then he recited, ‘As for him who gives out and is godfearing and confirms the Good, We will pave his way to Ease.’ (92:5-10)”

CDXXXVIII: His words, “He denies the Good.” (92:9)

4665. It is related that ‘Ali said, “While we were in a funeral at Baqi’ al-Gharqad, the Messenger of Allah came to us. He sat down and we sat down around him. He had a rod with him. He bowed his head and began to make markings on the ground with his stick. Then he said, ‘There is none of you and no living soul but that its place is written in the Garden or the Fire, and it is written whether it will be wretched or fortunate.’ A man asked, ‘Messenger of Allah, should we not rely on what is written for us and abandon action? Whoever among us is among the people of happiness will go to the people of happiness, and whoever among us is among the people of wretchedness will go to the people of wretchedness.’ He answered, ‘The people of happiness will be eased to the actions of the people of happiness and the people of wretchedness will be eased to the actions of the people of wretchedness.’ Then he recited, ”As for him who gives out and is godfearing and confirms the Good…’ (92:5-10)”

CDXXXIX: “We will pave his way to Difficulty.” (92:10)

4666. It is related that ‘Ali said, “The Prophet was in a funeral and he picked up something and began to mark the earth with it. He said, ‘There is none of you but that his place in the Garden or his place in the Fire is written for him.’ They asked, ‘Messenger of Allah, should we not then rely on what is written for us and abandon action?’ He replied, ‘Act. Each is eased to what he was created for. Whoever is one of the people of happiness is eased to the actions of the people of happiness. If he is one of the people of wretchedness, he will be eased to the actions of the people of wretchedness.’ Then he recited, ‘As for him who gives out and is godfearing and confirms the Good…’ (92:5-10)” (Ibid.)

Muhammad cited Q. 92:5-10 to prove that Allah has already determined beforehand all who will go to hell and paradise, and predestined the actions that each individual will commit in order to then damn them to everlasting torture or grant them everlasting bliss.

MUHAMMAD: THE OBJECT OF CREATION & PRAYERS

EVEN MORE PROOF THAT MUSLIMS WORSHIP MUHAMMAD

In this post I am going to show how Muhammad positioned himself as the main focus of Muslim piety and devotion for the express purpose of supplanting Christ from the hearts and minds of his deceived followers.

The sources I quote will prove that Muhammad demanded that his followers submit to him with total submission to the extent of equating obedience to and love for him with obedience to and love for the Islamic deity.

For instance, the Islamic text expressly teaches that loving Allah is to obey Muhammad since Muhammad’s god does not love anyone who doesn’t surrender his messenger:

Say, (O Muhammad, to mankind): If ye love Allah, follow me; Allah will love you and forgive you your sins. Allah is Forgiving, Merciful. Say: Obey Allah and the messenger. But if they turn away, lo! Allah loveth not the disbelievers (in His guidance). S. 3:31-32 Pickthall

This devotion led Muhammad’s contemporaries to rightly conclude that Allah’s messenger was demanding the faithful to love and obey him the same way that Christians love and submit to Christ:

(Say) O Muhammad!: (If ye love Allah) and His religion, (follow me) follow my Religion; (Allah will love you) He will increase your love (and forgive you your sins) which were committed when you followed Judaism. (Allah is Forgiving) of whoever repents, (Merciful) towards whoever dies in a state of repentance. This verse was revealed about the Jews who claimed they were the children of Allah and His beloved ones. When this verse was revealed ‘Abdullah Ibn Ubayy said: “Muhammad is commanding us to love him as the Christians loved Jesus”, and the Jews said: “Muhammad wants us to take him as a compassionate Lord, just as the Christians took Jesus as a compassionate Lord”. (Tanwîr al-Miqbâs min Tafsîr Ibn ‘Abbâs https://www.altafsir.com/Tafasir.asp?tMadhNo=0&tTafsirNo=73&tSoraNo=3&tAyahNo=31&tDisplay=yes&UserProfile=0&LanguageId=2)

(Say, (O Muhammad, to mankind): If ye love Allah…) [3:31]. Said al-Hasan ibn Jurayj: “Some people had claimed at the time of the Messenger of Allah that they loved Allah. They said: ‘O Muhammad! Verily, we love our Lord’, and so Allah, exalted is He, revealed this verse”. Juwaybir also reported that al-Dahhak related that Ibn ‘Abbas said: “The Prophet saw the Quraysh in the Sacred Mosque prostrating to their idols which they erected therein, with eggs of ostriches hanging from them and earrings dangling from their ears. And so he said to them: ‘O Quraysh! You have contravened the religion of your fathers Abraham and Ishmael, both of whom were Muslims’. They responded: ‘O Muhammad! We worship them out of love for Allah and so that they bring us closer to Him’. Upon which Allah revealed (Say, (O Muhammad, to mankind): If ye love Allah) and you worship your idols to bring you closer to Him, as you claim, then (follow me; Allah will love you…) for I am His Messenger to you, His proof against you, and I am more worthy of reverence than your idols”. Al-Kalbi also related from Abu Salih that Ibn ‘Abbas said: “When the Jews said: ‘We are the children of Allah and His beloved’, Allah revealed this verse. Then the Messenger of Allah read it to the Jews but they refused to accept it”. Muhammad ibn Ishaq reported that Muhammad ibn Ja’far ibn al-Zubayr said: “This was revealed about the Christians of Najran, for they had said: ‘We venerate and worship Christ out of love and veneration for Allah’. And so Allah revealed this verse as a response”. (‘Alī ibn Ahmad al-Wahidi, Asbab al-Nuzul https://www.altafsir.com/Tafasir.asp?tMadhNo=0&tTafsirNo=86&tSoraNo=3&tAyahNo=31&tDisplay=yes&UserProfile=0&LanguageId=2)

Muhammad even went as far as to say that Allah himself along with his angels pray for him, and used this to encourage Muslims to do likewise:

Verily, God and His angels pray (yusalluna) for the prophet. O ye who believe! pray (sallu) for him and salute him with a salutation! S. 33:56 Palmer

As if this weren’t shocking enough, specific narrations unashamedly state that Adam asked Allah to forgive him for the sake of Muhammad, leading the Islamic deity to say that Adam would not have been created had it not been for Muhammad!

Al-Bayhaqi cited the following hadith in his book “Dala’il an-Nubuwwah” (Signs of Prophethood): Narrated ‘Umar Ibn al-Khattab: the Prophet said: “When Adam committed the sin, he said to Allah, ‘O My Lord, I ask You with reference to Muhammad to forgive me‘. Allah said: ‘O Adam! How did you know about Muhammad, for I have not yet created him?’ Adam replied, ‘O My Lord, when You created me, I looked up and saw inscribed on the legs of the Throne the words: There is no God worthy of worship except Allah and Muhammad is His Messenger. I knew that you do not attach to Your name but the name of the dearest of Your Creation.’ Allah said to Adam, ‘You have spoken rightly, Adam. Muhammad is the dearest of My Creation. I have forgiven you because you asked by Muhammad. AND HAD IT NOT BEEN FOR HIM, I WOULD NOT HAVE CREATED YOU.’” This hadith was narrated by al-Hakim who also classified it AS SAHIH (AUTHENTIC). Among the transmitters of this hadith is ‘Abd ar-Rahman Ibn Zayd Ibn Aslam. Al-Haythami said: “This hadith was reported by at-Dabarani and in its chain of transmitters are people I do not know. Al-Hakim was therefore mistaken in classifying this hadith as sahih because he himself criticised ‘Abd ar-Rahman Ibn Zayd Ibn Aslam in his book ad-Du’afa, so how can he state the authenticity of the hadith after he had criticised him?!!” (Tafsir Ibn Kathir, Part 1, Surah Al-Fatiah Surah Al-Baqarah, ayat 1 to 141, Abridged by Sheikh Nasib Ar-Rafa’i [Al-Firdous Ltd., London: Second Edition 1998], p. 107, fn 10; bold and capital emphasis mine)

And:

Abu Muhammad al-Makki, Abu’l-Layth as-Samarqandi and others related that when Adam rebelled, he said, “O Allah, forgive me my error BY THE RIGHT OF MUHAMMAD!” Allah said to him, “How do you know Muhammad?” He said, “I saw written in every place in the Garden, ‘There is no god but Allah, Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah.’ So I knew that he was the most honoured creation in Your eyes.” SO ALLAH TURNED TO HIM AND FORGAVE HIM. It is said that this is the interpretation of the words of Allah, “Adam learned some words from his Lord.” (2:27 (sic))

Another variant has that Adam said, “When you created me, I lifted my gaze to Your Throne AND WRITTEN ON IT WAS: ‘There is no god but Allah, Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah,’ so I knew there would be no one held in greater esteem by You THAN THE ONE WHOSE NAME YOU PLACED ALONGSIDE YOUR OWN NAME.” Allah then revealed to him, “By My might and majesty, he is the last of the prophets among your descendants. IF IT HAD NOT BEEN FOR HIM, I WOULD HAVE NOT CREATED YOU.” It is said that Adam was given the kunya, Abu Muhammad. Some people say that it was Abu’l-Bashar (the father of mankind). (Qadi ‘Iyad Musa al-Yahsubi, Muhammad Messenger of Allah (Ash-Shifa of Qadi ‘Iyad), translated by Aisha Abdarrahman Bewley [Madinah Press, Inverness, Scotland, U.K. 1991; third reprint, paperback], Chapter Three: On the Sound And Well-Known Traditions Related About the Immense Value Placed On Him By His Lord, His Exalted Position And His Nobility In This World And The Next, Section 1: His place, p. 89; capital emphasis mine)

It gets a whole lot worse and blasphemous.

Muhammad is further said to have taught that the prayer of a Muslim will not be accepted if s/he does not include Muhammad in their prayers, and the more they pray for them the more assured their salvation shall be!

The following is taken from Abu ‘Abd Allah Muhammad Ibn Sulayman ibn Abu Bakr Al-Jazuli, Guide to Goodness (Dalail u’l Khayraat), translated by Andrey (Hassan) Rosowsky, Series editor Seyyed Hossein Nasr, published by Great Books of the Islamic World, Inc., 2006 second revised edition, distributed by Kazi Publications, Inc., Chicago, IL, pp. 7-17.

A PDF version of this work can be found here: Dalail-al-Khayrat-in-English.pdf.

Allah said: “Verily, Allah and His angels bless the Prophet. O you who believe, ask (Allah) to bless him and grant him abundant peace”.

And it is related that the Messenger of Allah came one day with signs of good tidings visible upon his face. He said: “Lo, Gabriel said to me, ‘Are you not pleased, O Muhammad, that whenever one of your nation asks Allah to bless you, Allah will bless him tenfold and that whenever one of your nation asks Allah to grant you peace, Allah will grant peace tenfold?’”

And he said: “The nearest person to me is the one who asks for blessings upon me the most”.

And he said: “Whoever asks for blessings upon me, angels are blessings him for long as he asks, be it for a short time, be it for a long time”.

And he said: “A person is considered a miser if, when I am mentioned in his presence, he fails to ask blessings upon me”.

And he said: “Ask for more blessings upon me on Fridays”.

And he said: “Whoever of my nation asks for blessings upon me once, ten good deeds are written down for him and ten sins are erased.”

And he said: “Whoever hears the call to Prayer and says, ‘O Allah, Lord of this perfect call and this established prayer grant Muhammad the Closest Access, the Pre-Eminence, the Lofty Rank and send him to the Most Praised Station which You have promised him’, my intercession for him will be binding on the Day of Resurrection.”

And he said: “Whoever asks for blessings upon me in a book, the angels bless him for as long as my name is in that book”.

And Abu Suleiman Ad-Darani said: “Whoever wishes to request something from Allah, let him increase his asking for blessings upon the Prophet and then he may ask Allah about his affair and then seal his request by once more asking for blessings upon the Prophet. For Allah will accept the two requests for blessings upon the Prophet and this is something more noble than whatever he asks for in between”.

And it is related that he said: “Whoever asks Allah one hundred times to bless me on a Friday will be forgiven the sins of eighty years”.

And Abu Huraira said: “The Messenger of Allah said, ‘For the one asks for blessings upon me there is a light on the Bridge, and whoever is on the Bridge from the People of Light will not be among the People of the Fire’”.

And he said: “Whoever deliberately neglects to ask for blessings upon me has missed the path to The Garden, for the route to The Garden is barred for such a neglectful one, whereas it is open for him who asks blessings upon me”.

It is related by ‘Abdurraham ibn’ Awf, that he said: “Gabriel said,’ O Muhammad, whenever someone from your nation asks for blessings upon you, seventy thousands angels bless him, and whoever is blessed by angels is one of the People of The Garden”.

And he said: “The more you ask for the blessings upon me, the more you will have in The Garden”.

It is related that he said: “Whenever someone asks for blessings upon me, extolling my right, Allah, Mighty and Sublime is He, creates from his words an angel with wings stretching from the East to the West, with feet connected to the nethermost part of the seventh earth and a neck bent beneath The Throne. Allah, Mighty and Sublime is He, Says to him, ‘Bless My slave as he asks for blessings upon My Prophet,’ and thereupon the angel will bless him until the Day of Resurrection”.

It is related that he said: “There will come to my Pool on the Day of Resurrection nations I will only know because of their frequent asking for blessings upon me”.

It is related that he said: “Whoever asks Allah to bless me, Allah will bless him ten times, and whoever asks ten times to bless me, Allah will bless him one hundred times, and whoever asks Allah one hundred times to bless me, Allah will bless him one thousand times, and whoever asks Allah to bless me one thousand times, Allah will prohibit The Fire from touching his body, his word on any matter will be made enduring in this world and the next, he will enter The Garden, on the Day of Resurrection his request for blessings upon me will be a light for him on The Bridge, a light visible at a distance of five hundred years, and Allah will grant him for every blessing upon me asked for a palace in The Garden, regardless of how many”.

And the Prophet said: “Whenever a slave asks for blessings upon me, his request leaves him quickly and passes over land and sea, through East and West, saying ‘I am the blessing upon Muhammad, the Chosen One, the Best of Allah’s Creation, asked for by so and so,’ and everything asks for blessings upon him. A bird is created from these blessings with seventy thousand wings, each of which has seventy thousand feathers. Each of the feathers has seventy thousand heads on each of which are seventy thousands faces. Each face has seventy thousands mouths and in every mouth there are seventy thousand tongues. Each tongue glorifies Allah the exalted in seventy thousand languages and Allah will then write for him the reward for all of that”.

Ali ibn abi Talib said: “The Messenger of Allah said, ‘Whoever asks Allah one hundred times on a Friday to bless me, a light will come for him on the Day of Resurrection, a light which, were it to be divided among them, would be enough for the whole of creation”’.

It is mentioned in the good tidings: “It is written on the leg of The Throne, ‘Whoever yearns for Me, I am merciful to him. Whoever asks Me, I will grant him his wish. Whoever draws near to Me, by asking for blessings upon My Beloved Muhammad, I will forgive him, even if his sins were as plentiful as the foam on the surface of the ocean’”.

And it is related by one of the Companions: “There is no gathering in which blessings upon Muhammad are asked for but that a beautiful fragrance rises from it which reaches the clouds in the sky and the angels say, ‘This is a gathering in which blessings upon Muhammad are being asked for”’.

Other reports mention that: “The Gates of the Heavens are opened for a believing slave, male or female, who begins by asking for blessings upon Muhammad, and the Pavilions are opened as far as The Throne, and all the angels bless Muhammad and ask for forgiveness for that slave for as long as Allah wishes”.

And he said: “Whoever is troubled by some matter should increase his asking for the blessings upon me, and that will remove his anxieties, his sorrows and cares and will increase his provision and satisfy all his needs”.

And one of the Righteous said: “A neighbour of mine was a scribe and he died. I saw him in a dream and asked him how Allah had treated him. He replied, ‘He had forgiven me’. I said, ‘For what reason has He forgiven you? ’and he replied, ‘Whenever I wrote the name of Muhammad in a book, I asked Allah to bless him and thus My Lord has given me what no eye has ever seen, no ear has ever heard and what no mortal has ever imagined’”.

And it is related from Anas, that he said: “None of you truly believe until I am dearer to him than his own self, his wealth, his children, his parents and all other people”.

And it is related in the Tradition of Umar, that he said. “You are dearer to me, O Messenger of Allah, than everything I possess except my own self which is within me”. The Messenger of Allah replied: “You will not be a believer until I am dearer to you than your own self”. Umar said: “By Him who revealed to you the Book, you are dearer to me than my own self”. The Messenger of Allah upon him, said to him: “Now, O Umar, your faith is complete”.

And it was asked of the Messenger of Allah: “When will I attain faith?” (and in another version “When will I attain true faith?”) He replied: “When you love Allah”. It was said: “And when will I love Allah?” He said: ”When you love His Messenger!” It was said: “And when will I love His Messenger?” He said: “When you follow his path, adhere to his way, love what he loves and hate what he hates, befriend whom he befriends and oppose whom he opposes – and people will be distinguished one from another in their unbelief according to their hate for me”.

Can there be faith for the one who has no love for him?

Can there be faith for the one who has no love for him?

Can there be faith for the one who has no love for him?

It was said to the Messenger of Allah: “We see believers who are humble and believers who are not humble. What is the reason for this?” He said: “The one finds his faith adorned with humility whilst the does not”. It was said: “How can we find such faith, or obtain it or earn it?” He replied: “By sincerely loving Allah”. It was said: “How can the love of Allah be found or earned?” He said: “By loving His Messenger. So seek out the pleasure of Allah and the pleasure of His Messenger by loving Them”.

And it was said to the Messenger of Allah: “Who are the family of Muhammad whom we are ordered to love and honour and treat with reverence?” He replied: “The People of purity and fidelity, who believe in me sincerely”. It was said: “What are their signs?” He said: “The traces of my love are on every lover and their inner life is busy with remembering me and remembering Allah” (In another version the words are: “Their signs are being addicted to remembering me and constantly asking for blessings upon me”.)

It was said to the Messenger of Allah: “Who is he who is strong in his love for you?” He replied: “The one who believes in me without seeing me for he is a believer in me through yearning and is sincere in his love for me. A sign of this is that he desires a vision of me more than anything he owns (in another version the words are: “… than all the gold in the world”) This is a true believer in me whose love for me is true and sincere”.

It was said to the Messenger of Allah: “Are you aware of the blessings upon you asked for by those who are not with you or by those who will come after you? What is their state regarding you?” He replied: “I HEAR the blessings of the people who love me and I KNOW THEM. And the blessings of others than them ARE PRESENTED TO ME”.

Note how the aforementioned hadiths ascribe divine qualities to Islam’s false prophet, such as his being fully aware of all those who pray for him and seek his intercession as he rots away in his cursed grave.

The foregoing references emphatically prove that Satan deliberately raised up Muhammad to replace Jesus from the hearts and minds of Muslims in order to lead them to eternal destruction since the deceiver knows that there is no salvation apart from loving, worshiping, and obeying God’s uniquely beloved Son, the risen Lord of Glory:

“He who loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; and he who loves son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me; and he who does not take his cross and follow me is not worthy of me. He who finds his life will lose it, and he who loses his life for my sake will find it.” Matthew 10:37-39

All things have been delivered to me by my Father; and no one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and any one to whom the Son chooses to reveal him. Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me; for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” Matthew 11:27-30

“For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God sent the Son into the world, not to condemn the world, but that the world might be saved through him. He who believes in him is not condemned; he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.”

“He who believes in the Son has eternal life; he who does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God rests upon him.” John 3:36

“Jesus said to them, ‘Truly, truly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of his own accord, but only what he sees the Father doing; for whatever he does, that the Son does likewise. For the Father loves the Son, and shows him all that he himself is doing; and greater works than these will he show him, that you may marvel. For as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, so also the Son gives life to whom he will. The Father judges no one, but has given all judgment to the Son, that all may honor the Son, EVEN AS they honor the Father. He who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent him. Truly, truly, I say to you, he who hears my word and believes him who sent me, has eternal life; he does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life. Truly, truly, I say to you, the hour is coming, and now is, when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God, and those who hear will live. For as the Father has life in himself, so he has granted the Son also to have life in himself, and has given him authority to execute judgment, because he is the Son of man. Do not marvel at this; for the hour is coming when all who are in the tombs will hear HIS [the Son’s] voice and come forth, those who have done good, to the resurrection of life, and those who have done evil, to the resurrection of judgment.’”

“Jesus said to her, ‘Your brother will rise again.’ Martha said to him, ‘I know that he will rise again in the resurrection at the last day.’ Jesus said to her, ‘I am the resurrection and the life; he who believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, and whoever lives and believes in me shall never die. Do you believe this?’ She said to him, ‘Yes, Lord; I believe that you are the Christ, the Son of God, he who is coming into the world.’” John 11:23-27

“‘Let not your hearts be troubled; believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many rooms; if it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And when I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also. And you know the way where I am going.’ Thomas said to him, ‘Lord, we do not know where you are going; how can we know the way?’ Jesus said to him, ‘I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father, but by me.” John 14:1-6

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.” John 14:27

“I have said this to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” John 16:33

“And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.” Acts 4:12

“What then shall we say to this? If God is for us, who is against us? He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all, will he not also give us all things with him? 33 Who shall bring any charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies; who is to condemn? Is it Christ Jesus, who died, yes, who was raised from the dead, who is at the right hand of God, who indeed intercedes for us?” Romans 8:31-34

“because, if you confess with your lips that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For man believes with his heart and so is justified, and he confesses with his lips and so is saved. The scripture says, ‘No one who believes in him will be put to shame.’ For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; the same Lord is Lord of all and bestows his riches upon all who call upon him. For, ‘every one who calls upon the name of the Lord will be saved.’” Romans 10:9-13

“For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all, the testimony to which was borne at the proper time.” 1 Timothy 2:5-6

“The former priests were many in number, because they were prevented by death from continuing in office; but he holds his priesthood permanently, because he continues for ever. Consequently he is able for all time to save those who draw near to God through him, since he always lives to make intercession for them. For it was fitting that we should have such a high priest, holy, blameless, unstained, separated from sinners, exalted above the heavens. He has no need, like those high priests, to offer sacrifices daily, first for his own sins and then for those of the people; he did this once for all when he offered up himself. Indeed, the law appoints men in their weakness as high priests, but the word of the oath, which came later than the law, appoints a Son who has been made perfect for ever.” Hebrews 7:23-28

“For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments. And his commandments are not burdensome. For whatever is born of God overcomes the world; and this is the victory that overcomes the world, our faith. Who is it that overcomes the world but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?… If we receive the testimony of men, the testimony of God is greater; for this is the testimony of God that he has borne witness to his Son. He who believes in the Son of God has the testimony in himself. He who does not believe God has made him a liar, because he has not believed in the testimony that God has borne to his Son. And this is the testimony, that God gave us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He who has the Son has life; he who has not the Son of God has not life. I write this to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life. And this is the confidence which we have in him, that if we ask anything according to his will he hears us. And if we know that he hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have obtained the requests made of him.” 1 John 5:3-5, 9-15
